দল বেঁধে উড়ে যায় ---

বকগুলো কতদিন উড়বে ? ছেলেটি
মন দিয়ে ইতিহাস বই পড়ে ---
সিন্ধু সভ্যতা থেকে আফগানিস্তানে
তালিবান শাসন I বউটি ঘোমটা দিয়ে
দাওয়ায় বসে রান্না করে
---উচ্ছে ভাজা আর মোচার ঘন্ট I
রাত বারোটা, চৌমহনী বর্ডারে
চোরাব্যবসা জমে ওঠে,
পূর্নিমা চাঁদ, কোমল জ্যোত্স্না I

উড়ন্ত বকগুলোকে তবুও

হলুদ দেখায় কেন ?
ওরা কি সাদা হয়ে
আবার পৃথিবীতে ফিরে আসবে না ?
বকগুলো কতদিন উড়বে ?

অজ্ঞাত

মেঘের আবছা ঘোমটা সরিয়ে অভিমানী সূর্য একপলক দেখতে চেয়েছিল

তোমার ঐ বৃষ্টিভেজা চোখদুটো I

চাবাগানের আলতো হাওয়া ছুঁতে চেয়েছিল

তোমার শীতল স্পর্শ I

মাঠভরা কলমি তোমার শাড়ীর আঁচল হওয়ার স্বপ্ন দেখেছিল I

প্রকৃতি তার সমস্ত সম্পদের প্রাচুর্য্যে তোমায় ভালবেসেছিল I

এলোমেলো রাস্তায় হেঁটে চলা একদল চেনা অচেনা পুরুষের মাঝে

কৃষ্ণচূড়া সতত: তোমায় খুঁজেছিল I

রাস্তার দুধারে কদমগাছ তোমায় অভিবাদন জানাবার জন্যে

                                      অপেক্ষা করেছিল I

রুকরুকার চোরাস্রোত তোমার আগমনী বার্তায় নেচে উঠেছিল I

দলবেঁধে হেঁটে চলা মদেশীয় রমনীর পাহাড়ী সরলতা

কল্লোলিত ছন্দে তোমায় আহ্বান করেছিল I

সমগ্র পৃথিবীতে শঙ্খধ্বনি হয়েছিল তোমার অভিষেকের জন্য I

প্রেয়সী, তুমিই শুধু শুনতে পাওনি সেই শঙ্খধ্বনি I

কোনদিন জানতেও পারোনি,

চাবাগানের কোমল শ্যামলীমা তোমারই পুজারী ছিল I

The spring at Jalpaiguri was excellent! The green of wavy tea garden, the red of Krishnachura tree, the violet of kolmi, the yellow of Kodom flower used to play with each other. The nature from the window of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College hostel was a perfectly drawn landscape. The colours, the different phases of the day, the fragrance of flora and fauna used to extract the poetry of a youth, with love and affection.

                                  নির্ঝর চক্রবর্তী

সপ্তর্ষির বিপরীতে যে কালপুরুষ ডানা মেলে উড়েছিল
                        আজ সে পথ চেনাবে ----

চেনাবে নতুন দিগন্ত
তুষার শুভ্র মরুভূমি,
হাড় হিম শীতল বাতাস,
আর তারই নিচে অদম্য জীবন সংগ্রাম
পৃথিবীর সবথেকে সজীব প্রাণভূমির I
বলবে রুকারি থেকে ডিম চুরির অমর কাহিনী,
শোনাবে একদল বীরের কথা,
উন্মুক্ত কন্ঠে ঘোষণা করবে জীবনের জয়গান,
হার না মানা মানুষদের কথা I

মনের জানালা দিয়ে উঁকি মেরে দেখো -----
কোনো হাড় হিম দীর্ঘ সন্ধ্যেতে
তুমিও হয়ত হেঁটেছিলে ঐ তুষারদেশে -----
ক্ষতবিক্ষত হাতে আগলে ধরেছিলে প্রিয়তম সাথীর
অসার দেহ, মরুঝরের তান্ডব থেকে,
সপ্তর্ষির বিপরীতে I

বন্ধু আজ আবার এসো ----
জীবনের জয়গান গাও, মানুষের জয়গান গাও I
কালপুরুষ আজ আবার পথ চেনাবে তোমাকে ----
শুধু তোমাকে I
কারণ তুমিও বীর,
তুমিও পারো বরফের ভেলায় ভেসে
              দীর্ঘ শীত কাটাতে ----
তুমিও পারো অভুক্ত শরীরে
সহযাত্রীকে খাবার ভাগ করে দিতে I

কালপুরুষ তোমাকে পথ চেনাবে ----
কারণ তুমিও পারো জীবনের জয়গান গাইতে ----

Note:
সপ্তর্ষির বিপরীতে means opposite to arctic. Ancient Greek people used to believe that there was a continent at southern part of the earth which balances the northern continents. They had named that imaginary continent as Antartikos, which means Opposite to Bear (“Ant” means “opposite” and “Arktik” means “Bear”). Bear is the cluster of stars visible from northern part of the earth, which is known as “Saptarshimondal” (সপ্তর্ষিমন্ডল) in Bengali.
Later on, during 16th century AD, that continent of south was discovered. Name of that continent is Antarctica. It is cold, dangerous, beautiful and unapproachable by normal means. Some adventure lovers and scientists had explored the mystery of that iceland with lots of pain and sacrifices. This poem is dedicated to those adventurous heroes (like Scott, Wilson, Shackleton, Amundsen, Ross, etc.) who contributed their life to discover the mystery and science of that wonderland, called Antarctica.

ঘরটি তার আটচালা

ছাত্ররা সব হরবোলা

মুখে তাদের নেই তালা I

হেডমাস্টার পতুবাবু

গোলগাল কমলালেবু

ঘুমেই শুধু হাবুডুবু

অঙ্ক দিলেই হ'ন কাবু I

স্কুল বসে দশটা দশে

গ্রাম থেকে ছেলেরা আসে,

খেলতে তারা ভালবাসে,

লাঠির ভয়ে পড়তে বসে I

পতুমাস্টার ঘুম দিলে

পড়ার কথা যায় ভুলে,

ডানপিটে সব ছেলেপিলে,

মেয়েদের মন পুতুলে I

সবাই বলে "চল পালা"

চারটেয় পড়বে তালা,

ছুটির পর আরো খেলা

গাঁয়ের শেষে পাঠশালা I

একরাশ কালো কালো ধোঁয়া

কল কারখানা থেকে  উড়ে উড়ে

                     ভেসে যাওয়া,

চোখ কান মুখ বুজে
জামা প্যান্ট শার্ট গুঁজে
অফিসের পথে হেঁটে যাওয়া,
একরাশ কালো কালো ধোঁয়া I

নগরের সভ্যতা আমাদের গৌরব
ধোঁয়াসার অনন্য অদ্ভূত সৌরভ
কোথায় হারিয়ে গেল শাল শিশু মহুয়া,
চারিদিকে একরাশ কালো কালো ধোঁয়া I

Gear Box: Fundamental, Operation & Maintenance

Gear always attracts classical engineers, because, gear revolutionized the human civilization. Gear is the most classic contribution of classical science. With gears motion can be controlled with infinite accuracy. Varied change of speed with utmost accuracy, varied change of direction with finer control is possible only with gears. Even converting rotating movement into linear motion and vice versa can be obtained by different gearing combinations.


The following presentation is made to give a basic concept about gears and gear boxes.

In common industrial practices, normally open gears are not used. In most of the cases, gears, either one set of gears or a series of gears in gear train, are operated in a casing, which is known as gear box.

This presentation may help engineering students and fresh engineers to get an overall idea of industrial gearbox. Also it can be helpful for practicing plant and operation engineers who want to refresh themselves about basics of gearbox.
